High-Voltage Construction

ICARUS Ops Error Elimination System (EES) · designed to reduce errors

ICARUS Ops is digital procedure software for high-voltage electrical construction. Electrical contractors and general contractors on data center and AI projects use it to run energization, switching, UPS isolation and commissioning procedures step by step, with time stamps, photo proof and QA sign-off, even with no signal. It also includes electronic lockout/tagout (LOTO).

One skipped step can cost a life, or a schedule.

AI data center projects, and the legacy and enterprise builds alongside them, are adding more switchgear, more UPS systems and more energization events, on tighter schedules. Procedures are long. Crews are under time pressure. Paper and PDF checklists cannot show you if a step was skipped, done out of order, or signed without being done. You find out after the arc flash, the outage or the failed commissioning test. ICARUS Ops digital software for high-voltage construction has been performing in the field for over eight years.

  • Arc flash and shock risk during energization, switching and lockout/tagout.
  • Schedule risk when a mistake causes rework, a failed test or an outage.
  • No proof that the work in the field matched the procedure from HQ.

With ICARUS Ops EES, write it once at HQ, run it right in the field, even with no signal.

  1. Author. Your engineering, safety and QA teams build the procedure in the ICARUS Ops web portal, with review, approval and version control.
  2. Assign and sync. Leadership then assigns the approved procedure per site. Crews sync at the start of each shift to get the day’s assignments in the native Android or iOS app, over Wi-Fi or cellular.
  3. Execute offline. Crews can then review a workflow view prior to starting the procedure, and then get it one step at a time. Steps cannot be reordered. Critical steps need a photo, a reading or a QA sign-off before the crew can continue.
  4. Sync and prove. When the device syncs, every time-stamped step, photo and sign-off uploads to the cloud. HQ views it in the ICARUS Ops web portal and gets notifications for out of range data or problematic timing. All completed procedures are available with their captured photos and analytics for customer audit.

Built for AI data centers and every critical facility build.

  • Energization and first power. Step-by-step energization with hold points and QA gates. What is energization?
  • Switching. Switching procedures in a locked sequence, with QR or barcode asset verification where required. What is a switching order?
  • UPS and battery isolation. Card-by-card isolation that cannot be skipped. What is a UPS?
  • Commissioning (L1–L5). Run commissioning scripts in the field on EES — verifiable results instead of a spreadsheet printout. What are L1–L5?
  • Turnover to the owner. Operations procedures can be written and tested during commissioning and left to the ops team, mitigating risks for the lifecycle of the building and providing a continuous revenue stream for the electrical contractor or commissioning team that authored and tested the procedures.
  • Electronic lockout/tagout (LOTO). Digital LOTO procedures are built into the ICARUS Ops EES platform. Designed by current master electricians to meet today’s standards. Works online or offline, and offline is where it earns its keep. Step-by-step isolation, photo proof of every lock and tag, verification of zero energy, sign-off by the authorized person, an integrated abandoned lock protocol for personal locks left on a group lockbox, and a full audit trail. EES supports, and does not replace, your OSHA 1910.147, 29 CFR 1926.417 and NFPA 70E energy-control program. What is lockout/tagout?

Proof built into every step.

  • Every step recorded. Every step records who completed it and when. Critical steps can require a photo or short video.
  • Performance curves captured. Date-time curves show how long each step and procedure took, and anomalies get flagged.
  • Card-by-card procedures. Every procedure is presented step by step in the correct order.
  • Critical gates. QA sign-off, a photo or a short video, whatever the step demands.
  • Offline use and full audit trail. Procedures run with no signal in basements and steel enclosures.

Ready for the unplanned.

Emergency checklists are stored on the device, open with one tap from any screen, and work with no signal, even in the middle of another procedure. Having accurate, ready procedures is the right way to mitigate risk for your crews. See emergency checklists.

Emergency checklists support, and do not replace, your site emergency action plan and calling 911.

A method proven in the cockpit.

Airlines and military aviators rely on standard checklists for normal and emergency operations. ICARUS Ops was founded by former naval aviators and airline pilots who used checklists in high-risk flight operations. We brought the same discipline to the field: clear steps, the right order, a confirmation at critical points, and a record of every action. Our eight years of high-voltage energization and construction work have validated the transfer.
